Ceylon Logica Institute for Strategic International Policy e. V. is an independent think tank on defence, deterrence and resilience based in Düsseldorf. We work at the intersection of security policy, armed forces, the defence industry and democratic resilience – with a clear focus on actionable analysis for policymakers, public administration and parliaments.
We are a small but growing team and are looking for people who think in terms of security policy, work analytically, and can turn results into clear decision notes – rather than 200‑page reports.
How we work
Our products are short, precise and decision‑oriented: rapid briefs, situation reports, options papers and action plans for ministries, parliaments and public administrations.
We work predominantly in a digital setup, with our anchor in Düsseldorf/NRW and projects across Germany and Europe.
Our working languages are primarily German and English; additional European languages are welcome.
Who we are looking for
We welcome unsolicited applications on a rolling basis for:
Internships and student positions
for students from advanced bachelor level or in a master’s programme (e.g. political science, international relations, security studies, economics, law, data/science).
Research positions / Research Assistants
for master’s graduates or doctoral candidates with a clear profile in security and defence policy, defence economics, strategic studies or related fields.
What you should bring:
Very strong analytical and writing skills
Interest in topics such as defence, deterrence, resilience, the defence industry, EU/NATO
Careful, independent way of working in a small team
Confident command of English; very good German skills are an asset
Willingness to work responsibly in a politically sensitive environment
Security requirement:
Given the nature of our work, we are currently only able to consider applicants who hold exclusively the nationality of an EU member state (no additional non‑EU citizenship).
What we offer
Insight into German and European security and defence policy
Work close to parliamentary processes, ministries and industry
Small structures, direct contact with the institute’s leadership, steep learning curve
Opportunity to work on real products (briefings, situation reports, resilience checks) that are used in political practice

We accept applications throughout the year.
Please send the following in a single PDF document to application@ceylonlogica.de:
